About Dr. Maria Scunziano-Singh, Naturopathic Medical Doctor
While the path that led Dr. Maria Scunziano-Singh, M.D. into a career in medicine is nontraditional, every step along the way has solidified her dedication to the wholeness of wellness and has broadened her experience beyond what some physicians might experience in an entire lifetime.
Medical Doctor & Naturopathic Practitioner
Better known as “Doctor Maria” or “Dr. M” to her patients, her methods include a combination of conventional treatments and naturopathic medicine, with teachings on lifestyle, specific nutritional plans and other integrative techniques.
Over more than two decades, she has worked with a full scope of diseases and health issues in both women and men, taking time to explore their problems while emphasizing the importance of why and how they develop, and then generating a plan of care that allows for the person to help heal or improve the problem at hand.
While she is fully-licensed to prescribe drug therapies and perform various procedures, as well as office-based surgeries, she considers her role as a doctor to be primarily concerned with education on how to truly find a state of wellness.
Bringing Awareness to Holistic & Naturopathic Medicine
Her mission is to foster greater awareness and more conscious living, so people can lessen or avoid the chances of illness, and this extends beyond one-on-one interactions with patients.
In free monthly health and wellness lectures at her Hernando County office which are open to the community, Dr. M explains how conventional and alternative treatments complement each other and are both available for people to explore as they seek better overall health.
It is not unusual for Dr. M to conduct a yoga class or meditation to give people the opportunity to see that these are real and very valuable therapies for illness or disease. She also invites other health and wellness experts to speak during the monthly lectures.
Naturopathic Doctor With a Medical Degree
Dr. M is a graduate of New York Medical College (’93), completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City (’96), achieved a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD) Diploma from the Clayton College of Natural Health (’11), is a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician from the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (’22), and is board-certified in Internal Medicine.
Her accolades extend well beyond this, and include being an active member of both the American College of Physicians and Florida Medical Association, Florida’s Top Docs nominee, Cambridge Who’s Who entrant, author, public speaker, guest on WWJB-1450 AM, and more.
Dr. Maria’s Personal Journey to Natural Medicine
Yet, prior to med school and long before Dr. M became a caregiver to thousands, her journey began as a caregiver to one, her mother, Natalie. Devoted to caring for her mother as she fought a crippling illness, Maria pursued a career in allied health.
Never losing sight of going to medical school, Maria later increased home care services for her mother and went back to university to fulfill premedical requirements, passed her medical admission exam, and was accepted into medical school.
Through the incredible challenge, Maria learned the complexities of illness as well as the marvels of wellness. Unfortunately, she could not change the course of Natalie’s illness, and she would see her 54-year-old mother lose her life to chronic illness just shortly after medical school graduation.
To Maria, this was her mother’s spiritual message for her to now forge ahead on her mission to become a doctor. Because of this, Dr. M dedicates all her endeavors to her mother as she works to provide compassionate care to everyone, including her own family.
Dr. Maria is honored to be the mother of four beautiful children with her husband, also a physician, with whom she created the Auroveda Foundation for charitable work as well as a medical practice that has grown to encompass many providers and health professionals in several counties throughout Florida.
Teaching the Benefits of Naturopathy and a Holistic Approach to Self Care & Health Care
Her new undertaking, The WellCome OM Integral Healing & Education Center, is designed to promote the principles of true wellness with healing of minds and bodies through conscious teachings of the meaning and value of earth’s tremendous medicinal capacities.

Collaboration with other highly talented and skilled mind and body professionals – both inside and outside the Center – to help many people while concurrently making a special footprint in Spring Hill, Brooksville, Weeki Wachee, Hernando County, Citrus County, Pasco County and all the other surrounding areas is her desired goal.
