SET is a manual therapy designed to rehabilitate and acute and chronic pain conditions in the body and to help achieve overall optimal health. It has been developed over the course of 40 years by Don McCann and has roots in osteopathy and postural integration but is an evolution of these systems (see article Beyond the Box). It is also part of ACIM (the American Council of Integrative and Complementary Medicine).
The goal is to allow our clients to resume normal life activities pain-free by using our multi-faceted and integrative system of advanced bodywork. This means our intention is to eliminate the cause of pain, rather than provide temporary relief, over the course of time.
Each treatment is a part of a larger program that reflects each individuals path to overcoming their pain conditions, and this journey is unique to every client. Sometimes this journey is longer or shorter, depending on the client’s history and their goals, but our job is to facilitate lasting change that can stand the test of time.
SET Therapy Session Fee (60-90 minutes)
Releases the connective tissue (fascia) in the body creating structural imbalances (skeleton) via cranial mobilization. Fascia directs skeletal organization (posture) within the body and is fundamentally related to all musculoskeletal pain. Our cranial corrections are unique to us and specific to every client.
Specialized Myofascial Unwinding
Deep tissue releases in the body that are specifically designed and sequenced to correct structural imbalances and acute/chronic pain conditions in the most efficient manner, based on the body reading analysis and kinesiology assessment of every client at the start of each session.
Emotional Energy Release
Pain in the body has an emotional component. The perceived ‘pain’ on the table for the client carries an emotional charge which begins to activate and release as part of the therapeutic process. This mode of our therapy can be used to rehabilitate the energy behind pain or trauma that is related to personal life events or specific to them, such as anxiety, depression, rage, PTSD, creative and mental blocks, etc. These states affect soft tissue inflammation.
These breath sessions can also accelerate the healing process in the soft tissue work even if emotional trauma is not evidently present. Those with any conditions that cause them to have difficulty breathing (asthma), or those wishing to breathe better overall (athletes, meditators, or yoga practitioners), will also see improvements.
