Be EMPOWERED Program Mission

Our goal is to empower teens and youths with the knowledge they need to make healthy, safe decisions throughout their lives. We strive to guide students through positive thinking, effective communication, and self-reflection skills. This program welcomes middle and high school students of all genders, sexualities, cultures, and beliefs.

Workshops

Our workshop groups are safe, non-judgmental spaces for teens & youths only! We talk about important health topics such as self-worth, diversity, mental health, sexual health, peer pressure, & more. It’s a great place to ask those “weird” questions, vent about teen/youth struggles, learn relevant life skills, and make friends!
  • Attend one workshop per week at The WellCome OM Center, 4242 Lake in the Woods Drive (Blue Building)
  • Choose Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays – new topic each week!
  • High School students meet 5:30pm-6:30pm & Middle School students meet 6:45pm-7:45pm
  • Workshops are limited to 30 people – please sign up early!

Stay Tuned for Orientation and Upcoming Workshops!

Meet the Educator

Sarina Singh is a Peer Educator at WellCome OM and the creator of Be EMPOWERED. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry.

Though she has a great appreciation for the natural sciences, she also has tremendous passion for teen and youth health education. Sarina has spent the last three years working with students in NYC, helping them to feel more confident and empowered through informative, non-judgmental health programs such as Peer Health Exchange.

She wants to ensure that through Be EMPOWERED, teens and youths will be able to feel supported, openly talk about their feelings, and learn the skills they need to make well-informed health decisions.
